Women Can Do Anything

On March 1, 2024 Woodruff Elementary celebrated International Women’s Day through holding an assembly with female professionals. Our parents, staff and students were invited to come together to celebrate the accomplishments of women in our community and to honor equity and inspire inclusion. Thank you to Alexandra Cortez and our PTA for hosting this memorable event.

PBIS Bulletin Board

Woodruff Elementary and the PTA launched our electronic PBIS Rewards program Winter 2024. Positive Behavioral Intervention and Supports (PBIS) is  an evidence-based framework for behavioral, academic and social emotional support. Students have the opportunity to earn points by demonstrating our HOWL tenants of H-onesty, O-wnership, W-illingness, and L-eadership.

The PBIS Rewards app allows all of our staff and members of our PTA to award points to students for demonstrating the expected behaviors by simply scanning students’ badges with their cell phones. Students are then able to log in on their Chromebooks to see an overview of what was earned and the reason why. They place items in their shopping cart for purchase with earned points and our PTA delivers the purchased items twice a month.  The key to the program is having rewards that incentivize our students within the age range. Some of the prizes won have been through raffles such as lunch with the counselors and a dance party. The ultimate raffle prize will be time spent in a mobile gaming unit, which will be supplied by our PTA. Since the kickoff, we have seen a huge reduction with trash on campus.

PTA Glow Party

Woodruff’s PTA celebrated their 127th birthday on February 17th! Alexander Cortez, Woodruff’s PTA President, and many volunteers organized a week of dress up days and activities for our students in celebration. The culminating event was a Glow Dance Party for parents, the staff and students. Happy birthday to our PTA!
