Principal's Message

Trang Nguyen, Ph.D.: Frank E. Woodruff Elementary Principal

Welcome to Frank E. Woodruff Elementary, a state of California Gold Ribbon and Title I Academic Achievement School.  Our goal is to support the Woodruff Community through high quality instruction and social-emotional support, with a focus on learning for all students. We are dedicated to ensuring that our students and staff thrive in a safe and welcoming environment where families feel engaged and connected to our school community.

We are also proud recipients of both PBIS Silver and Gold Medals, recognizing our commitment to creating a positive, inclusive, and supportive school culture.

Our theme for the 2025–2026 school year is “Dare to Dream.” As an AVID and Capturing Kids’ Hearts school, we encourage all of our students to dream big and work toward their college and career goals with confidence and purpose.

The focus areas for the 2025–2026 school year include academics, achievement, and engagement:

  • Academics: Through strong Tier 1 instruction and academic support, all students will read and comprehend grade-level texts across content areas.
  • Achievement: Through targeted assistance and academic interventions, we will close the achievement gap in English Language Arts for the following subgroups: English learners, students with disabilities, socioeconomically disadvantaged students, and African American students. Additional support will also be provided through after-school tutoring.
  • Engagement: Students, staff, and families will continue to feel valued, safe, and connected as members of our Woodruff community.

We encourage you to join us in this journey by getting involved in our school community. There are many ways to participate, such as:

  • Joining our PTA: This is a great way to connect with other parents and support school activities.

  • Attending English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC) meetings: Your insights are valuable in supporting our English learners.

  • Becoming a member of the School Site Council (SSC): Help shape the direction of our school by participating in important decision-making processes.

We look forward to working together with you to ensure that this year is one of tremendous growth and achievement for your child. Thank you for your continued support and partnership in your child's education.

Wishing all the best,

Trang Nguyen, Ph.D.

Proud Principal
